Il cercapunti misura la conduttanza cutanea appoggiando la propria punta sulla pelle. In prossimità degli agopunti la conduttanza è maggiore rispetto al suo intorno, il punto di maggiore conduttanza è segnalato da un tono acuto e dalla luce led che si accende a frequenza maggiore.
